For Fiscal Year 2026, when compared to the prior year through July 31, North Carolina experienced an increase in General Fund receipts which include tax and non-tax receipts. Tax revenues increased by $145.9 million or 5.2 percent, and non-tax revenues decreased by $6.2 million, or 7.2 percent as compared to the previous year.

The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of July 2025 was $1.7 billion as compared to $3.1 billion as of July 2024.

Tax revenues increased by $856.5 million or 2.7 percent, and non-tax revenues increased by $9.0 million, or 0.5 percent as compared to the previous year.

The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of June 2025 was $891.0 million as compared to $2.1 billion as of June 2024.
