The Office of the State Controller (OSC) today released the General Fund Cash Watch numbers for the week ending March 14, 2025. OSC provides a weekly update on the State’s General Fund cash position which can be found at ncosc.gov/public-information/news.

The overall summary table documents net cash position. The receipts table documents funds coming into the state while the disbursements table documents funds being paid out. The reserved cash table documents funds that are reserved for future use.

For Fiscal Year 2025, when compared to the prior year through February 28, North Carolina experienced an increase in General Fund receipts which include tax and non-tax receipts. Tax revenues increased by $623.1 million or 3.1 percent, and non-tax revenues decreased by $83.4 million, or 8.6 percent as compared to the previous year.

The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of February 2025 was $2.2 billion as compared to $2.8 billion as of February 2024.

For Fiscal Year 2025, when compared to the prior year through January 31, North Carolina experienced an increase in General Fund receipts which include tax and non-tax receipts. Tax revenues increased by $553.8 million or 3.0 percent, and non-tax revenues increased by $87.4 million, or 10.5 percent as compared to the previous year.

The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of January 2025 was $1.9 billion as compared to $3.0 billion as of January 2024.

The Office of the State Controller today launched a website that enables public review of state government employee salaries.  With this action, the state of North Carolina joins the North Carolina University System, and many other state governments including Georgia, South Carolina and Tennessee, in providing salary transparency resources.
