Office of the State Controller Releases May Financial Report

For Fiscal Year 2025, when compared to five-month period of 2024 through May 31, North Carolina experienced an increase in General Fund receipts which include tax and non-tax receipts. Tax revenues increased by $817.8 million or 2.8 percent, and non-tax revenues increased by $162.2 million, or 11.3 percent as compared to the previous year.

The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of May 2025 was $3.3 billion which is the same balance as May 2024.

For Fiscal Year 2025, when compared to the prior year through March 31, North Carolina experienced an increase in General Fund receipts which include tax and non-tax receipts. Tax revenues increased by $421.8 million or 1.8 percent, and non-tax revenues increased by $54.3 million, or 4.9 percent as compared to the previous year.

The General Fund’s unreserved fund balance as of March 2025 was $1.3 billion as compared to $3.1 billion as of March 2024.
